vintage style

Hello, I'm new here, I love vintage & vintage style clothes too. Though at nearly 6' tall it's really difficult to find true vintage that fits me, so i SEW! And if you do too, Vogue patterns has their vintage patterns and Folkwear.com has some VERY nice 30s-40s vintage-style patterns as well. I have a really great dress from the 50s (or early 60s) that fits OK but was made for someone my SIZE but not my HEIGHT so I wear it anyway & the waistline is too high but do I care? It's a fabulous dress & I get compliments so I can dig it. Happy to be here!

That's awesome! Welcome! I have a problem with a lot of the vogue reissues...they arn't TRUE to the original pattern, but have been modernized...(I suppose it doesn't matter if you sew, or are tall and have to...) They made them to be more appealing to the modern woman...They shortened the skirt lenths (easy enough to fix) and shortened the waist height.

Whatever, though. I know I'm a vintage snob. I work in a vintage boutique.( Wow, how ostentacious do I sound? Yipes! I'm not THAT bad!) :)...I know how difficult it is to find outfits for any girl over 5'6! Rock whatever you can, though! It's loving what you wear, and wearing what you love that makes the outfit work. That's style...
