Has anyone ever ordered anything from the Unique Vintage website? It seems to be more for "vintage inspired" garments rather than authentic pieces. But either way, I'm hoping to get some feedback, good or bad, about them from real people, not just their self-supplied testimonials or a write-up in Glamour.

Re: Unique Vintage
Fri, December 5, 2008 - 11:20 PMI haven't ordered, but my initial reaction would be one of a mildly red flag. I am always cautious when item descriptions do not list the material content. For instance, it may say satin or chiffon, but it does not specify a silk or synthetic. Of course, we can guess by the omission that they mean synthetic. But sometimes the look feel & float that you want from the chiffon in the pretty photo is far from what you'll get in the box. I noticed in all descriptions, they omit fabric material content when describing fabric type.
I'd say, it's an "instant gratification" site for cute dress. to wear out dancing... in low light. Colors & color combinations read a bit garish on my computer screen, at least for me.
I'm a textile girl. Read: textile whore. textile, uh, snob. The scratchy sound of a poor synthetic can really bring me down even when the design is cute. & don't get me started about construction.
my forecast.
Compare to Zara, H & M. Urban, etc. for construction quality
A lot of bang for your buck for one season before it falls apart.
proceed with caution. ( I do like the fringe dress: www.unique-vintage.com/seen-p...19.html & hey look, they showed some fabric content!)
