My absolute favorite 50s-esque fitted black jewel neck 3/4 sleeve cardigan is finally on its last fibers. I'm going to try re-dyeing it one more time, but I don't have much hope.
I need to replace it, but all my searches for cardigans are coming up loosely-fitted, or embellished. I got this one at Express, and it is silk and nylon, and is tight enough to wear either as a layer or by itself. I love the 3/4 sleeve, but full length would be fine, if it was tight.
Am I searching for the right thing... are the tight sweaters with the ribbing 4-5" around the bottom still called cardigans?

Re: my cardigan is dying (and I can't dye it any more)
Tue, May 1, 2007 - 5:46 PMas far as I know they are still called cardigans...try "button-up" as well...I found a great one in that style at Nordstrome last year...It's a jersey blend, but looks great...Good luck. I hate it when my fave garment is lost beyond hope.....Also try Victoria's Secret online...sometimes they have little sweaters like that, too... -

Wed, May 2, 2007 - 2:38 PMDon't know if this suits, but try JCrew:
www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml
Nothing really vintage about it obviously, but it would suit any of my 50's era dresses. -

Re: my cardigan is dying (and I can't dye it any more)
Sun, May 27, 2007 - 12:05 AMi recently saw a really nice one at nordstrom made by 9 west-
3/4 sleeves , waist length, very cute, under $100
the style seems to be going towards longer sweaters so these might get harder to find after this year.

Fri, June 1, 2007 - 1:27 PMmaybe you need to think in a different way...
Are there any knitting groups in your area?
Try posting an add in an online knitting forum or at a local yarn store.
Find a person who will do it and hand them your current one as a pattern. -

Re: my cardigan is dying (and I can't dye it any more)
Fri, October 12, 2007 - 2:34 PMIf you are looking for vintage, try ebay. Do a search for cardigans, and go to the vintage section. If you are patient, something you want might eventually show up.
