Mon, August 27, 2007 - 6:47 AMOMG! Square Dance shops! Just google "square dance shop" and you'll find dozens of places. Plus, it looks like you're in Texas where square dancing is huge so you probably have a shop near your town even, so you can try a few on and see what style you like best. I wear full skirts & crinoline pettticoats a lot and can offer the following tips: "Sam's" is a good brand, organdy is a good material, it is lighter and cooler than chiffon which actually weighs a lot in the yardages used in most petticoats and can be pretty warm to wear. I love the bouffant look...an am psyched to hear that you do too! What kind of dresses or skirts are you putting the pettis under?

Re: Good source for crinoline petticoat?
Mon, August 27, 2007 - 3:39 PMKeep in mind--square dance petticoats tend to be a lot shorter than traditional 1950's petticoats...at least, in my experience...perhaps they come in differant lenghts, but here in KC, all the square dance ones are nearly mini...GOOD LUCK! -

Mon, August 27, 2007 - 8:26 PMYou can pre-order some in the lengths you want. Try places that sell Malco Modes brand (although as of a few months ago, they were horribly backed up and the wait time was long).

I am going to actually base a bellydance costume with a crinoline skirt. I will probably wear it for everyday wear with one of my mexican skirts too. I LOVE vintage mexican skirts!
